quand même vs. tout de même: how to choose
The two odd ones out in this whole family — no fixed construction to follow (they modify a full sentence, from almost any position, including the very end), and near-identical in meaning. 'Quand même' leans spoken/casual; 'tout de même' is marginally more neutral/written, though the two are close to interchangeable day to day.
